I just got an email from Servage, one of the places I host my websites at. Well… used to host, because the people at Servage are the most unprofessional people I’ve ever encountered on the Internets.
Help your Friends and Earn Free Hosting!
No chance in hell I will ever recommend this hosting to my friends. Not even to my worst enemies!
Let me give some examples:
If you want to use one of their SQL servers to put your database on, you can count on downtime on a regular basis. You will see “Database Error: Unable to connect to the database:Could not connect to MySQL” almost every day.
Instead of looking at the load on the servers, which is tremendously high, they advise you to copy the database to another overloaded server or make a new one on the same server!
Or you get an answer like this:
It may happen for the load on the mysql server your database is on. I would request you to keep an eye on this for next couple of hours and get back to us if the problem persists.
Um… guys, it’s YOUR job to keep an eye on the servers, not the customers’.
And instead of running your servers for MONTHS without a scheduled reboot, you’re bound to get problems and clogged up systems.
Traffic ø per hour
Received 832 GiB 415 MiB
Sent 22 TiB 11 GiB
Total 23 TiB 11 GiB
Then, the website of a friend of mine got hacked.
First time it was my fault, i’m not shy to admit that. Putting a folder at 777 is bound to become trouble.
This is how Servage responds:
At 11.49 I sent a support ticket about not able to reach my websites via the web, nor via FTP.
11.58 : Support sends me a broken notification link about phishing activities on the website.
As I was about to fix this issue, I discovered that I was shut out, unable to delete the affected folders, sending tickets to the support, complaining about this.
12.49 : support tells me to delete the folders first before i regain access to the server through the filemanager in the control panel, which is IMPOSSIBLE since they shut me out.
19.58 : Finally, after receiving some vague replies in broken English I regained access to my account. LOOK AT THE TIMEFRAME! O.o
But then, it happened again!
16.04 Posting support ticket (with a sarcastic touch)
21.18 After numerous pokes I finally get a standard reply. They dont even bother to look at the issue!
Hello xxxxxx,
Please change the FTP password once and use the FTP server as ftp5.servage.net.
Hope this helps!
Kind Regards
xxxx, Support
Servage Hosting
WTF GUYS… o.o
Eventually one day later at 20.13 the whole issue was solved again.
But then this was the drop that overflowed the porverbial bucket:
Yes I can see you have cleaned the cache folder. I have unsuspended your account. Please do not ever upload any such contents at your account which compromises the Hosting terms.Your co-operation will be highly valued and appreciated.
Yes, even though the folder was NOT writeable from the outside, I get accussed of phishing.
Thats Servage for you. Servage fucks up and puts YOU to blaim.
Dear Servage, I’m sure you will read this someday and maybe you feel the urge to change something inside your company or send me a take down notice for this post.
1. I dont think you guys will ever change.
2. I will never take this page down, because it’s the truth, it’s a freedom of speech and it’s my duty to warn my friends and visitors for your “service”
As a final note:
Guys and gals, if you need web hosting, go to http://www.webmasters.com
I’m hosting there since 2003 and I’ve never had big issues with them.
Better yet, IF there is a issue, you get a fast and polite response and the issue is solved.
Yes, they are a little bit more expensive but it’s well worth the money.
Good, safe, solid, and reliable hosting. Trust me on this.
