As a Second Life mentor I saw a big influx in new residents last weekend. After reading up on the mailing list of the SLV’s this article turned up as probable cause.

( FFS people, does everything revolve around sex? D: )

———–

A couple have divorced after the wife saw the husband having online sex in the virtual world of Second Life. So how do avatars have sex?

Wife walks in and finds husband in a compromising position on the sofa with another woman. Wife feels betrayed. Wife files for divorce. Marriage ends.

It’s a familiar scenario in soap operas, but for one married couple it was all too real. Sort of.

Amy Taylor and David Pollard met in an online chatroom in 2003, got married and shared their interest in Second Life, a virtual world… Read more >>>

This is a question people tend to ask me a lot.

Second Life is a good outlet for my creative moods and is a really fun 3D chat room at the same time. I can build whatever I like, whether it is psychically impossible or not. I meet a lot of people from all over the world  which makes it amazingly interesting too.

The media

[Drive-by Media]
OMG, SECOND LIFE IS ONE BIG SODOM AND GOMORRAH WITH ILLEGAL PORN, GAMBLING AND A BUNCH OF ANIMALS HAVING RANCID SEX!!
[/Drive-by Media]

Yes, it’s true. Partially tho. Because the ones who accuse Second Life and it’s residents of this, should have a good look at their own “real life” surroundings and country. Thing is, SL is not that much different from RL. Only difference is, that in you cannot die in SL, you don’t need food nor have to take a crap in the bushes.

Dubious porn will be everywhere and gambling too (although it’s banned from SL) About “animal” sex… hehehe oh well, aren’t we all a little animal inside sometimes. Don’t tell me you didn’t growl once when you blew your load. I will come back on this particular subject later this week.

Machinima

So yeah, besides all the weird things that happen in there, there are also some quite interesting things to mention. It’s a very good place for Machinima for example. I’ve even bought a special mouse for it, since that makes filming a whooooole lot easier.

3D and Art creations

What I cant create at work (because of that stupid thing called building code and gravity) I can create in SL. Trying to keep things as realistic as possible withing the boundaries of available building blocks. Yeah… available building blocks. One cant just create something without having to keep a certain amount of building blocks in the back of his or her mind. Per square meter of land, one has a fixed amount of building blocks. Too much hassle to talk about it right now.

Exploring

This is probably the most interesting part of whole SL. With almost 1.800.000.000 sqm of land, the world of Second Life has become really -REALLY- big. Same thing with the users. Back in 2006, it was considered a busy day when there were 15.000 residents online, today it nearly reaches 60.000.

I will actually go travel around in SL and try to stay in-world permanently for a week or so. Ofcourse, crashes and other failures may interrupt it briefly, but the goal is to stay in-world for an extended period of time.

My goal? To meet more people and see many weird creations too.

I’ll keep you posted about this :)

It happened all as a gimmick, really. We were wondering what could attract customers in our store, so I decided to find some freebie furry avatars and gave them away inside the store. It started with about 3 or 4 freebies, but as time passed, I collected ever more nice looking avatars.

Since almost a year now, there are 85 avatars in the box, varying from dogs to horses.
All free and nice quality of course.

So, are you curious about the statistics? Let’s see here:
Avg. In-world Sales (shops and freebie points) : 60
Avg. Out-world Sales (SL Exchange) : 160

This means, if you add all avatars separately together,
I’m distributing 18000+ freebies per month. O.o

Jenkies…

I also got a suggestion today that I should also include scaly avatars. It’s going to be a tough one, but I will work on that next week! Let’s make this box even bigger!
